Your ideal weekend plans will get ruined when Prime Video stops working on your Fire TV. Besides, you can’t simply switch to another streaming service to watch the content. Some TV shows and movies are exclusively available on Prime Video only. Instead, you can use the tricks below to fix Prime Video glitches on your streaming device.
1. Check Network Connection
You should first ensure an active network connection on your Fire TV Stick. If the connected Wi-Fi is having trouble, you can’t stream content from Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, and more. You should restart the router and follow the steps below to confirm an active connection status. Step 1: Slide to the Settings menu (gear-shaped icon) on your Fire OS home screen.
Step 2: Select Network.
Step 3: Connect to a 5GHz Wi-Fi network. Step 4: Select the menu button on your Fire TV Stick remote.
Step 5: Make sure it says ‘Connected to the internet.’
You can also run a speed test from the same menu.
2. Restart Fire TV Stick
Rebooting your Fire TV Stick is a quick way to fix small glitches. You can press and hold the play/pause button and the Select button together for 3-5 seconds and restart your Fire TV Stick. If the remote trick isn’t working, use the steps below. Step 1: Open Fire TV Stick settings (refer to the steps above). Step 2: Select ‘My Fire TV.’
Step 3: Click ‘Restart.’
Step 2: Select ‘Account & Lists’ at the top-right corner.
Step 3: Open your prime membership.
4. Check Prime Video Servers
5. Force Stop Prime Video
If Prime Video still isn’t working for you, you can force stop its app and try opening it again. Follow the steps below to do that. Step 1: Open Fire TV Stick Settings (check the steps above). Step 2: Select ‘Applications.’
Step 3: Click ‘Manage Installed Applications.’
Step 4: Scroll to ‘Prime Video.’
Step 5: Select ‘Force stop’ from the following menu.
Restart your Fire TV Stick (refer to the steps above) and try using Prime Video again.
6. Clear Prime Video Cache
Prime Video collects cache in the background to improve user experience. When the app collects a corrupt cache, you will face issues with streaming content. Let’s clear the Prime Video cache and try again. Step 1: Open Prime Video in the ‘Manage Installed Applications’ menu (check the steps above). Step 2: Check cache data and hit ‘Clear cache.’
It’s also one of the effective ways to free up storage on a Fire TV Stick.

Clearing app data removes cache, login info, and other data from Prime Video. Go through the steps below to clear Prime Video data. Step 1: Navigate to Prime Video in Fire TV Stick Settings (refer to the steps above). Step 2: Select ‘Clear data.’
