With that in mind, here is a list of four great iOS apps that you can download now for free from the App Store. Each of them will make your journey even better, no matter where you are heading. Let’s take a look at them.
1. Tipulator
Easily one of the most common issues you will run into every time you eat out at a restaurant will be knowing if you have to give a tip, and if so, how much is the right amount? Thankfully, Tipulator is a free iPhone app that takes care of this problem, providing you with a very complete and flexible tipping calculator that lets you tinker with every variable, including the tip percentage, tax, and more. This, in turn, lets you tailor your results to your needs for each destination you visit. Be warned, the app looks a bit old fashioned, but it works perfectly.
2. HostelWorld
While seemingly simple on the surface, HostelWorld carries an incredible database that can help you find deals on a varied range of hotels/hostels no matter where you’re setting up camp. What I personally like about this app is that it puts a lot of focus on reasonable prices and great user feedback. This means that whenever you search for lodging in any country, the first results you get will be priced comfortably and provide great service, two things that are a must if you want to make the best out of your trip.
3. WikiArt
Aptly named WikiArt, this app will prove to be a real gem if you happen to like visiting museums or other art venues while traveling. The app lists a ‘featured’ section that changes often and displays a varied range of art pieces. For each of these you can see an image of nice quality and a very detailed description. Additionally, you can use the app’s search function to find any artwork you might come across during your trips. A great reference tool.
4. Where To Eat?
The name of the app says it all. Where To Eat is an app that will help you find spots to have a bite near you. However, in addition to several similar apps out there, Where To Eat tends to also display those little eatery gems that usually only the locals know about. That alone makes the app worthwhile for any serious traveler, but if you add an excellent search function and a very original filter system, then you get a must-have app for anyone who takes pride in finding the best local places to eat. And there you have them. Next time you’re planning a trip, make sure to have these free apps on your iPhone and you’ll surely enjoy your travels.
